Pea Protein Proposed Anti-Dumping-Tariffs Update!
In January, we informed you about the USA imposing significant tariffs on pea protein originating from China. The EU Commission launched its own pea protein anti-dumping investigation in late 2025. As a result, a preliminary EU document has recently indicated that it also plans to introduce temporary anti-dumping tariffs on pea protein imports from China. Still in the preliminary stage, the proposed
additional customs tariffs would range from 40.5% to 112.7%, depending on the producer. This would substantially increase the market price of pea protein. To avoid a massive prompt import of pea protein from China, the EU also considers imposing these customs duties in retrospect, resulting in a significant price risk for both: exporters, importers and users of pea protein.

The leaves also contain much higher levels of chlorophyll.
The leaves then go through a multi-step processing line including steaming, drying, air separation of large particles, heat treatment to remove bacteria, filtering and magnetic purification, and finally high-pressure air grinding resulting in a fine premium matcha powder.
