The recent pea protein “dumping” investigations are led by domestic producers in North America and Europe claiming cheap Chinese imports, sometimes subsidised, are causing injury (lost sales, lower profits) to their industries.
Trade investigations have resulted in significant tariffs imposed in the US in 2024 from 112% – 270%, with Canada closely following. The EU Commission launched its own anti-dumping investigation in late 2025 and are likely to impose their own tariffs which will significantly increase the market price of pea protein.
